Basi, world’s oldest panda in captivity, turns 37 on January 18. Born in 1980 in Baoxing, Sichuan Province, Basi was the inspiration for Panpan, the mascot of the 1990 Beijing Asian Games. Global Times online has collected photos of several important moments from Basi’s life.
