The third season of renowned Chinese director Zhang Yimou's conceptual theater show 2047 will be staged at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) from September 13 to 15, the director behind a number of well-known movies like
Red Sorghum, Shadow and
Hero as well as opening ceremony of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, announced on Thursday.
The upcoming show will focus on China's lesser-known intangible cultural heritages, and make use of high technology including drones.
According to Zhang, local singers from Northwest China's Shaanxi Province will work with the Verity Studios led by Bill Keays on the drone performance.
Zhang said that the show aims to get people to rethink the relationship between high technology, such as AI, and human beings.
"If we confiscated everyone's smart phones here, we all would feel that we couldn't make it through the day. Our life has been dominated with high tech. So the show is not only to entertain but also to enlighten people," Zhang explained.
