A man from East China's Shandong Province who sued the police for releasing his image on social media when he was wanted on sexual assault charges has had his case thrown out of court.

A video posted by Btime on Sina Weibo on Friday shows the man, surnamed Zhuang, suddenly hugging a female student who was walking alone on a school campus and forcibly kissing her on August 22, 2018. Zhuang run away after the girl managed to push him away.

The police released Zhuang's personal information, photos and grainy video of the assault on Sina Weibo on October 23, 2018. Zhuang was arrested two days later and was detained for 10 days.

Although the police removed the wanted order on Weibo later, Zhuang thought the police should have more promptly delete his personal information after he was punished. He sued the police in court, claiming 100,000 yuan ($13,966) compensation for damaging his reputation.

The local court did not to accept Zhuang's suit saying Zhuang and public security organs are not equal subjects. Zhuang appealed to the Jinan Intermediate People's Court, which dismissed the case on July 18, upholding the local court's original judgment.
