Domestic historical film
Mao Zedong 1949 dominated the Chinese mainland box office on Tuesday, the China Movie Data Information Network said Wednesday.
The film earned about 7.36 million yuan ($1.03 million) on its fifth day of screening, accounting for 19 percent of the daily total for Tuesday.
The film retraces the history of 1949 from the Communist Party of China Central Committee moving to Fragrant Hills in northwest Beijing in the spring of that year to the founding of the People's Republic of China on October 1.
Domestic drama
Little Q ranked second, with its daily box-office revenue of nearly 5.91 million yuan on Tuesday.
Comedy
The Last Wish took third place by raking in about 5.42 million yuan on its 13th day of screening.
