The Chinese edition of drama
Ghetto, directed by Israeli playwright Joshua Sobol, will tour to Chinese cities including Suzhou, Fuzhou and Guangzhou over the next five months.
The play, which became an instant hit when it debuted in 2018, tells a touching story about the experiences of the Jews of the Vilna Ghetto during Nazi occupation of Lithuania in World War II.
Making its debut on the international stage in 1984, the play has been performed in over 25 countries, in 20 languages and 80 versions over the past decades.
At an event in Beijing, Sobol noted that the play is based on real stories and that even today people can still be inspired by this story of actors, singers and poets trying to find hope when facing tragedy.
