A group of well-known TV hosts, scholars and professors held a forum about the influence of today's booming short video industry in China at Beijing's Peking University on Friday, China's Journalists' Day.
The How to Be a Journalist Today forum was also attended by students from different universities in the capital. The forum's goal was to inspire these students to think deeply about their role in the future of the short video industry in China, which includes platforms such as TikTok and Pear Video.
Bai Yansong, renowned TV host and also a researcher at the university's TV Research Center, Said that the transition between traditional and new media has brought about many changes, but the core responsibility of journalists to carry messages remains unchanged. Other topics included in-depth reporting and the challenges of journalism in the 5G era.
