The national grassroots yacht tour ended its 2019 season in Haikou, capital of South China's Hainan Province on Sunday, with local participants winning big in the event.

Ma Yunlong of Hainan won the seasonal championship in the men's race, while local athlete Zheng Yuanchang won the boys' race. 

The women's title also went to a Hainan athlete, as Zhu Jianglin fended off other competitors to be claimed the seasonal winner. 

Other major accolades went to team Heilongjiang, which won the team championship in Haikou.

Zhang Xiaodong, President of the Chinese Yachting Association, said she hopes the series will attract more international participants next year, after the event saw a rise in domestic participants this year.
