Jumanji: The Next Level, a sequel to the 2017 US adventure comedy film
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, continued to lead the Chinese mainland box office Sunday, according to the China Movie Data Information Network Monday.
The film raked in nearly 46 million yuan ($6.54 million) on Sunday, accounting for nearly 30 percent of the daily total.
The film tells of a team of friends who return to the dangerous magical world of the video game Jumanji to rescue one of their own.
This time they group needs to brave parts unknown, from arid deserts to snowy mountains, in order to escape the game.
It was followed by Chinese crime drama
The Wild Goose Lake, which grossed over 38 million yuan.
Coming in third was
Frozen II, a sequel to the 2013 Disney animated blockbuster film
Frozen.
It pocketed over 29 million yuan on Sunday.
