South Korea's SM Entertainment posted a photo of late star Kim Jong-hyun on Wednesday morning, the two-year anniversary of the idol's death.

First debuting in 2008, Kim was the lead singer in the SM boy band SHINee. He also pursued a career as a solo singer. He sang the interlude "So Goodbye" for the drama series City Hunter in 2011 and had several solo albums such as BASE, Story Op.1 and She Is.

The star had a close connection to China. As a trainee, he came to Beijing to learn Chinese for a short period of time.

After SM Entertainment posted the photo of the star with the words "I love you" on Twitter, a number of Chinese fans reposted screenshots of the original post on Sina Weibo, where they quickly went viral.

Many Chinese netizens referred to the star as an angel.

"You will never disappear as long as someone remembers you, right? Kim, you are my favorite," a netizen going by the handle NanaSJKw wrote on Sina Weibo.

A screenshot of the post quickly went viral on Sina Weibo.

According to a report from the National Business Daily, Frozen merchandise continually ranks at the top when it comes to sales in stores in China, with dresses being the most popular.
