The hashtag JacksonWangInterpretsForHimself trended on China's Twitter-like Sina Weibo onSunday, the same day that K-pop band GOT7, of which Jackson Wang is a member, attended a fan event in Qingdao, a coastal city in East China's Shandong Province. The topic has earned 110 million views and 32,000 reposts on the social platform as of Monday.
Beginning his entertainment career in 2011, the Hong Kong singer is fluent in Putonghua (standard Chinese), Cantonese, Shanghainese, English and Korean.
In a video publicized on Weibo Entertainment on Sunday, Jackson is seen interpreting English into Chinese for dancers in a training room while preparing for his performance for Hunan Satellite TV's New Year's Eve gala.
Jackson often posts in three languages, Putonghua, South Korean and English, on his Instagram account.
The band received a warm welcome upon their arrival in Qingdao from fans who were eager to say hello and take photos and videos of the stars. Unfortunately, it seems that Jackson fell after some fans approached him.
Soon after, the star wrote a post on Instagram in both English and Chinese reminding fans to be safe and adding, "let's not mention what happened today anymore."
