Chinese netizens recalled the most exciting moments of 2019, which included the grand military parade celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and the opening of the Beijing Daxing International Airport.
China Central Television (CCTV) posted a video online of key national events of 2019, triggering netizens to post their most memorable and exciting events on social media.
The National Day parade was included in most people's list. The 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China on October 1 included celebratory events, such as the military parade that crossed in front of the iconic Tiananmen Square in Beijing.
Most Chinese netizens who watched the parade said they were impressed. "I deeply felt the power of my motherland once more when I watched the parade. I will remember this year's National Day forever!" a Sina Weibo user wrote.
Hong Kong police, who protected the city as brave and loyal guards, were also the focus of netizens.
Since June, rioters in Hong Kong have surrounded Hong Kong police headquarters, disrupted government agencies, and ransacked the Legislative Council building.
While the police have tried hard to restore order and safeguard the dignity of the law during the rioting in Hong Kong, some of them were attacked and injured by rioters.
"Hong Kong police should be the people of the year," another netizen commented.
Huawei's leading 5G technological race, the successful landing of Chang'e 4 on the far side of the moon and the 11-game winning streak of China's women's volleyball team also made netizens proud.
"Our motherland is so prosperous now!" wrote a net user who received many thumbs up.
