New TV program
A Good Lesson from China Central Television has become a hit among young people since its first episode aired in November 2019.
The show sees CCTV host Kang Hui, 12 experts in art, the military and sports and some young Chinese stars present a 60-minute lesson on various subjects.
Pre-recorded at university campuses including Beijing Foreign Studies University, Beijing Normal University and Beihang University, the past nine episodes have seen former Palace Museum director Shan Jixiang, renowned Chinese film director Chen Kaige and president of the Central Academy of Fine Arts Fan Di'an present lessons, after which Chinese actors such as Huang Jingyu, Huo Zun and Chen Xiao take part in a discussion to further explore the content of the lesson.
The show follows in the footsteps of CCTV's other hit cultural programs such as Readers and National Treasure.
Kang's performance has changed his image from a serious news anchor to that of a studious scholar after he shared his understanding of several classic Chinese stories in the first episode.
