People of all ethnic groups in Northwest China’s
Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, including her own relatives, are deeply resentful of Rebiya Kadeer’s conduct of trying to split the country, senior officials from the regional government of Xinjiang said at a press conference on Monday.
The Global Times released a report and video of the granddaughters of Rebiya, a separatist from Xinjiang, earlier this month. In the video, the two girls and Rebiya’s son called on her to stop spreading lies about Xinjiang and not disturb their peaceful lives.
Rebiya responded on her Twitter account, asking “why there were only three of them in the Global Times interview.”
The Global Times obtained a video from the Xinjiang regional government on Monday, in which 21 relatives of Rebiya Kadeer refuted her lies and called on her to stop trying to split China.
When reaching the family members of Rebiya, the Global Times respected their decisions. A couple of her relatives agreed to be interviewed because they thought she is getting old, hoping she could reflect upon her past mistakes and trying to persuade her to give up her wrong persistence. However, most of her relatives could not forgive her for her crimes and evil conduct, and were not willing to have any contact with her again.
Elijan Anayit, spokesperson of the Information Office of the Xinjiang regional government, said at a press conference on Monday that people of all ethnic groups and Rebiya’s family members are “deeply resentful of Rebiya Kadeer’s conduct of splitting the country from abroad, supporting violent terrorist activities and instigating ethnic hatred.”
“I think Rebiya Kadeer should have known that one day she would lose family support before she engaged in such nefarious deeds,” the spokesperson said.
“I would like to reiterate that China is a country under the rule of law. Nobody will be taken under compulsory measures as long as he or she is not suspected of a crime or illegal behavior. Rebiya’s family members, including her two sons Ablikem and Alim and her younger sister Hilqem Kadir, now live a free life in Xinjiang, and none of them has been implicated in Rebiya’s criminal cases,” the spokesperson said.
To prevent lies from becoming truth, reporters shot more videos of Rebiya’s relatives with their consent, which were aired at Monday’s press conference.
“Chicanery and lies will completely expose their ugly faces when confronted with the truth. If Rebiya really cares about her relatives, she should listen to their exhortation and stop going further on the road of crime,” said the spokesperson.
