The recovery rate for the novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP) has been rising significantly not only nationwide, but also in the outbreak epicenter of Wuhan and Hubei Province, the National Health Commission (NHC) revealed on Monday.

The nationwide recovery rate reached 8.2 percent on Monday, compared to 1.3 percent on January 27, said Mi Feng, spokesperson of the NHC, at a press conference of the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council held in Beijing on Monday.

This increase in recovery rate is an initial result of the medical treatment measures that have been implemented around the country, Mi said.

In Hubei Province, the recovery rate was 6.1 percent as of Monday, an increase from 1.7 percent on January 27, while in Wuhan, the epicenter, the figure rose to 6.2 percent on Monday from 2.6 percent on January 27, according to Mi.

As medical support reinforcements from other parts of the country rallied to Hubei and Wuhan and multiple measures were taken to increase hospital bed supply, the treatment capabilities there were significantly enhanced, Mi said.
