94.5 percent of enterprises above the designated size, 97.4 percent of large-scale groups, and 53 percent of small and medium-sized enterprises in Shanghai have resumed work by the end of February, according to the brief of Shanghai Municipal Economic and Information Commission on work resumption in the city on Monday.

As far as the figures of employee rejoining work is concerned, 64.6 percent, 63.8 percent, and 45 percent of staff have returned to enterprises above the designated size, large-scale groups, and small and medium-sized enterprises, respectively.

The electricity consumption is also picking up. On 28 February the industrial and commercial electricity consumption in the city resorted to 83.6 percent of the previous amount.

The high-tech industry saw the highest resumption rate with key enterprises in the artificial intelligence sector and integrated circuit industry achieving 100 percent work resumption.

The rate of work resumption in the software and information service industry is close to 100 percent with 93 percent of employees returning to work. Besides, 90 percent of the key enterprises in the big data industry have resumed work with 85 percent of employees returning to work. The key companies in the Internet industry saw a 94.2 percent resumption rate with 71.8 percent of staff returning to their jobs.

Over 60 percent of enterprises above the designated size in suburban areas have resumed work. In terms of distribution, all industrial enterprises in Jinshan District have resumed work. Industrial enterprises with an annual output value of over 1 billion yuan ($143 million) in Qingpu, Minhang, Pudong, Songjiang, Jiading, and Baoshan have all resumed work.

Some major groups like Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Company, Shanghai Huahong Integrated Circuit, and Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation have achieved near-full productivity.
