China remains Philippines' biggest supplier of imported goods in January 2020

China was the Philippines' biggest supplier of imported goods in January 2020 with 25.5 percent share to the total imports in January 2020, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said on Tuesday.

According to PSA data, import payments from China amounted to 2.37 billion US dollars, from 2.04 billion US dollars in January 2019.

China also was the Philippines' fourth-largest export trade partner in January 2020 with 685.58 million US dollars export value.

The total external trade in goods of the Philippines in January 2020 amounted to 15.08 billion US dollars, which represents an increment of 4.1 percent from the 14.48 billion US dollars external trade in the same month of the previous year.

Data from the PSA showed the country's trade deficit stood at 3.50 billion US dollars, 10.7 percent lower than the 3.92 billion US dollars deficit in January 2019.
