China announced on Monday that obstructing border health checkups, including concealing health status by providing the wrong information while filling in a health form, and forging health and checkup forms and certificates, will be punished and lead to conviction.

China's five top authorities including the Supreme People's Court, Supreme People's Procuratorate, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Justice, and General Administration of Customs jointly made the announcement on Monday.

Analysts believes it shows the country's tough stance and determination to contain the imported cases of coronavirus.

China has recorded at least 111 imported COVID-19 cases as of Saturday.
