A newly released Canadian court document has fully displayed that Canada was "an accomplice of the US" in the illegal arrest of Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou on December 1, 2018, China's foreign ministry said Monday.

"Relevant documents disclosed by the Canadian court once again showed that arresting Meng Wanzhou is a completely political maneuver, exposing the US' political plot to deliberately suppress Huawei and Chinese high-tech enterprises. It showed that Canada has played the role of an accomplice to the US," said Zhao Lijian, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a press briefing.

Zhao said the Chinese government is firm in its resolve to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of its citizens and businesses. 

"We once again urge the Canadian side to take seriously China's solemn position and concerns, immediately release Meng Wanzhou and let her return to China safely," Zhao added.

"Don't go too far down the wrong path", the spokesperson said. 

A new court document released on Friday revealed the coordinated action of US and Canada's intelligence departments in the arrest of Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou. 

A CSIS report was disclosed in the Canadian court documents as part of Meng's extradition proceedings. In a redacted December 1, 2018 memo, Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) said it was advised by the US FBI of plans to arrest Meng when she arrived on a flight to Vancouver International Airport later that same day.

"The arrest is likely to send shockwaves around the world," CSIS said in its report. "The planned event will be of great consequence internationally and bilaterally," CSIS report said.
