Lufthansa on Tuesday said that it will resume weekly services from Frankfurt to Shanghai from Wednesday, following months of suspension due to the pandemic. The first flight from Shanghai will depart on Friday.

From July, the carrier will fly between the two cities three times per week.

It is among first group of airlines now finding their way back to China.

Delta Air Lines on Monday announced it will resume services between Seattle and Shanghai-Pudong via Seoul-Incheon from Thursday, operating twice per week. From July, it will operate once weekly flights from Seattle and Detroit via Incheon to Shanghai.

Air France returned to Shanghai from Paris on Friday, and Air New Zealand resumed its Auckland-Shanghai route on Monday, operating a Boeing 787-9.

United Airlines said in an email sent to the Global Times last week that it aims to re-launch services to China in the weeks ahead.

Air China plans to fly 24 international routes every week in July, including three routes to Shanghai and Beijing. China Eastern Airlines and Shanghai Airlines will fly 21 overseas routes per week in July, including 18 to Shanghai.
