Mexico registered 7,208 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the nationwide count to 402,697 cases, the health ministry said Tuesday.

Meanwhile, 854 deaths were reported, taking the national death toll to 44,876, the fourth highest worldwide.

After confirming the first case of coronavirus in February, Mexico has become a country with the sixth largest tally of infections in the world.
