Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed shock and sadness at the explosion in Lebanon's Beirut city killing scores of people.
"Shocked and saddened by the large explosion in Beirut city leading to loss of life and property. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families and the injured," Modi said on social media.
According to media reports, the huge explosion killed over 78 people and injured more than 4,000. Videos of two successive blasts have gone viral on social media in India.
The cause of the explosion was not immediately clear, though the blast is linked to a large quantity of confiscated ammonium nitrate stored in a warehouse at the port, added the media reports.
