Chunqiao, a giant panda that lives at a zoo in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei Province, received a delicious "bamboo cake" for her fifth birthday on Saturday as a special way of marking her entry into adulthood.
A crowd of visitors also took part in the birthday celebrations. They stood outside Chunqiao's showroom, taking pictures and singing songs for her as she enjoyed her "cake," according to a video posted by Pear Video on Saturday.
The cake was made of bamboo, bamboo shoots and fruit, and was prepared by her breeder, surnamed Cao, who said it was the second birthday that he has celebrated for her at this zoo. He expressed the wish that she would be able to find a partner soon.
To help visitors learn more about Chunqiao's daily life, Cao has put her food, her shed hair and even her faeces on display for visitors to observe.
Cao told the media that he cleans up Chunqiao's faeces three to four times a day, and it "actually smells delicate."
"Giant pandas are not like most animals, as their faeces have the fragrance of bamboo," he said.
