The 4th Beijing Documentary Week kicked off on Tuesday at the Beijing TV Centre. The goal of the week-long event is to review the past year's efforts of documentary films in China and support the development of the Chinese documentary industry.
Taking the theme "Recording Beautiful Life," the 2020 documentary week will screen 50 documentaries and feature nine events including forums, training sessions and exhibitions. The organizers also noted that five studio contracts are expected to be signed this week, while 20 excellent documentary proposals will be up for sale.
An international communication forum on Chinese documentary films is one of the forums that will be held.
The forum will review popular Chinese documentaries that made their way into the international market in 2019, and discuss ways to better promote Chinese documentaries overseas and tell Chinese stories in a way that overseas audiences can understand and enjoy.
The week is scheduled to end on Tuesday.
