A stabbing incident occurred Monday near a kindergarten in Guangzhou, South China’s Guangdong Province, leaving five people injured. The suspect has been detained. 

The injured have been sent to the hospital for treatment, local police announced without elaborating on their condition. 

The incident happened in Fanyu district, Guangzhou, at around 7 am Monday, Fanyu police said. 

According to thepaper.cn, the incident took place at the gate of the Fanyu Jinxiu kindergarten. 

A video released by thepaper.cn showed two students with school bags lying on the ground in blood. 

An investigation is underway.
