A special marathon came to an end on Sunday in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning Province, with some competitors running on location while others raced through the use of fitness and running apps online.
Due to COVID-19 preventive measures, large-scale sports events in China have had to be reduced. Many marathon events have had to be canceled due to the epidemic.
But the online race saw 373,585 runners register to compete, organizers said, making it the largest marathon held in China this year.
A marathon-themed exhibition was also held for 10 days in Shenyang, to promote sports-related businesses and fitness products.
