The fire safety system at the Changying Tianjie Mall in Beijing proved its worth when it projected a stream of water with pinpoint accuracy from the fifth floor onto a fire that was being used by a bartender to make drinks on the first floor, according to the Beijing News on Monday.
A video circulating online shows the fire water monitor on the roof of the mall shooting a strong jet of water to the bar on the first floor, while crowds watched the scene in astonishment.
A witness at the mall told media that the flame which appeared while the bartender was making drinks triggered the fire safety system.
No one was hurt during the incident.
The mall said they are still investigating the case.
"Since we have seen the device's automatic fire extinguishing function, now we really want to see its automatic 'off' function," one netizen joked.
