 Chinese Ambassador to Japan Kong Xuanyou said that the relationship between China and Japan has come out of a trough, is back on track, and is entering a new era, in a letter written in response to a Tokyo resident, according to the Chinese Embassy in Japan.

Ambassador Kong recently accepted an interview with "Prime News" live program on Fuji Television, which drew a positive response in Japan. Many Japanese people expressed their ardent expectations for friendship between China and Japan through e-mails or letters after the program was broadcast.

One resident of Tokyo wrote to Ambassador Kong, saying, "I deeply agree with the ambassador's comments and statements on the relationship between China and Japan. At present, some one-sided China-related public opinions in Japan have seriously affected people's sentiments toward China. I am willing to make my own contribution to enhancing mutual understanding between the Japanese and Chinese people and promoting the friendship between China and Japan."

Ambassador Kong replied that relations between the two countries have experienced twists and turns, but have seen considerable development after generations of unremitting efforts since the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan. We should think about how to inherit the precious wealth of the friendship between China and Japan.

Dialogue and communication is the first step to solving problems, and we are willing to take the initiative to communicate with all walks of life in Japan with full sincerity, and firmly pass on the friendship between China and Japan from generation to generation, Kong said.

In his first policy speech on Monday, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said that a stable relationship with China is "very important," Xinhuanet reported Tuesday.
