The root cause of the increasingly complicated and serious cross-Straits situation is the Democratic Progressive Party authority's collusion with separatist and external forces, and their provocations, said Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.

Zhu made the remarks during a routine press conference on Wednesday, when commenting on voices emerging from the island of Taiwan saying that the cross-Straits situation has entered a "quasi-war status." 

Zhu reiterated that China's will to safeguard its national sovereignty and territorial integrity is rock solid, and will never leave any room for any form of separatist activities.
