A 30-year-old man from Fuzhou, East China's Fujian Province, suffered an exploded lung after he became furious at losing every single round of an online game during a four-hour game night, Xinhua reported on Tuesday.
On October 22, the man, surnamed Chen, was playing an online multiple-player game with his teammates, but to his great disappointment, his team lost every single round for four straight hours.
Furious at his teammates, who had done nothing to help but plenty to get on his nerves, Chen threw his phone to the ground, and a moment later felt a sudden, unbearable pain in his chest, while finding it difficult to breathe.
He was sent to hospital immediately, and saved from danger thanks to timely treatment.
Doctors found that a part of Chen's lung known as the pulmonary bulla had exploded, which led to the severe symptoms. "It is usually caused when people experience extreme anger or excitement, which leads to a rise in adrenaline, and further damages the lung," a doctor who treated Chen explained.
