An art exhibition including nearly 100 artistic pieces created by academicians of the Académie des Beaux-Arts (Academy of Fine Arts) in France has been launched on Friday at the Musee de Rongyuan (Rongyuan Museum) in Qingdao, East China's Shandong Province.
The Witness Immortality exhibition features original artworks created by 10 French art academicians ranging in style from oil paintings and sculptures to installation works and photographs. It discusses dualities such as content and form, and realism and abstraction, while exploring multi-aesthetic understandings toward cultural issues in the West and the East.

With the finely selected artworks by chief curator Didier Bernheim, the French art exhibition in Qingdao brings heavyweight artworks from masters such as Pierre-Yves Trémois, a visual artist and sculptor who is considered to be one of the most important French sketch artists of the 20th century, and sculptor Jean Cardot, who is best known for creating the bronze statue of Sir Winston Churchill in front of the Petit Palais in 1988. Also, well-known Chinese sculptor Wu Weishan's artworks will also be on display at the exhibition.
The exhibition of French art academicians is the maiden exhibition of Musee de Rongyuan. According to the museum, the newly established art space will continue to focus on designing artistic dialogues between China and France to promote cultural exchanges between the two countries.
The exhibition is scheduled to end on November 30.
