Jilin Cuisine includes a series of local dishes prepared with wild, green and natural materials and special cooking techniques, displaying the catering cultures of the Manchu, Korean and Mongolian minorities.

Local chefs of Jilin Province are good at using the kitchen knife. The dishes they prepare are beautiful in colors and shapes, with strong flavors and pleasant aromas, showing unique catering culture. Taking Jilin dishes will help strengthen the people's health.

Jilin's main famous dishes include Fermented Cabbage Chafing Dish, Fried Fish from Songhua River, Forest Frog on Changbai Mountain and so on.

Fermented Cabbage Chafing Dish



It is one of the traditional flavor hot pot in Jilin. The meat is sliced in a special way with a broad-bladed knife. It features long and thinly sliced white meat in wavy shape and tender and fresh taste rather than greasy. It tastes best with other seasonings.

Fried Fish from Songhua Lake



This dish absorbs the poetic grace from Chinese southern water town and meanwhile melts into the northern fish cooking style. The major ingredient, the grass fish from Songhua Lake is fried. It represents the flavor of northern water fish. It is fresh, tender, fat and beautiful. The best fish is the "Kaijiang" fish in April.

Forest Frog on Changbai Mountain
It is one of the creative dishes. "Chinese forest frog" is selected as the major ingredient and is prepared by braising. The meat is tender and delicious and contains rich protein. From the ancient times, Chinese forest frog, bear's paws, monkey head mushroom and hazel grouse are called "Four Treasures in Changbai Mountain."
