The mother of Cristiano Ronaldo's baby is an American waitress who became pregnant after a one-night stand with the football superstar last year.

It had been thought that Ronaldo, who became a father on July 3rd, had used a surrogate mother to have his baby – but the truth was revealed yesterday.

Ronaldo requested a DNA paternity test after the baby was born and, when the result confirmed that he is indeed the father, the child's mother was paid a life-changing $15.1 million.

She received the payment on the condition that she would not reveal her identity and would hand the child over to Ronaldo's ¬family.

Ronaldo has given his own first name to the newborn, and will not tell him details about his mother until his 18th birthday.

Last summer, on a trip to Los Angeles when he was photographed with Paris Hilton, Ronaldo reportedly strutted into a restaurant and spotted the future mother of his son.

Ronaldo's mother Dolores Aveiro and sister Liliana Cátia, will look after the child, and they are expected to take him from the US to Portugal soon.
