Statistics from China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) shows that in 2009, China's total sales volume of passenger vehicles with self-owned brands is 4.577 million sets, occupying 44.3 percent of the total sales volume of passenger vehicles and increasing by 4.38 percentage points than last year.

Over the past two months of 2010, the sales volume of passenger vehicles with self-owned brands has reached 1.1248 million sets, occupying 49.80 percent of the total sales volume of passenger vehicles. The passenger vehicles with self-owned brands have become an important part in China's auto market.

With the increasingly rising sales volume, the development and progress of the passenger vehicles with self-owned brands has also become one of the important impetuses driving China's auto industry from big to powerful.

Currently, the self-owned brands do not depend on favorable price to draw consumers due to technical progress, quality improvement and brand reinforcement.

Through the purchase of Drive-trainSystemsInternational (DSI), the second largest gearbox manufacturer in the world, Geely has mastered the technology on gearbox, which is one of the key auto technologies.

Through purchasing part assets of Saab, Beijing Automobile has acquired complete quality and manufacture technique system.

Mastering 27 items of key technologies on sedans and 32 items of key technologies on commercial autos, FAW has been provided with the capacity of developing full series of commercial autos independently, and has established two independent development platforms for economic sedans and midsize sedans.

Each year's new auto launch will draw more attention all over the market, because it means more advanced technologies and more rich allocation. In 2009, the number of newly launched auto types in China reached 221, 114 more than last year, among which the self-owned autos occupies the most, reaching 120, 83 more than last year.

Technical progress has also led to quality guarantee and improvement. In the test appraisal on the whole 23 auto types in 2009, which is released by China Automotive Technology & Research Center, for those new autos launched in China, the proportion of four-star autos reached 30.4 percent, and even the five-star autos reached 52.2 percent.

The score and star rate of self-owned autos have also increased year by year, and the passive safety technology of mini self-owned autos has been in line with international standard.

Compared with the past, China's auto self-owned brand construction has made great progress. Although it's never a thing that can be achieved in a short time to obtain market trust and establish an excellent brand, fortunately, the brand construction has been attached importance to by more and more automakers.

The autos with self-owned brands have been improving their brand images continuously by such behaviors as launching mid-and-high end auto types, changing auto marks, and improving dealers' standards on hardware and service.

In order to elevate the recognition of more consumers upon China's autos with self-owned brands, from July 15 to 19, the Achievement Exhibition on China's Self-owned Auto Technologies and Products, which is jointly organized by China-Europe Association for Economic & Technical Cooperation and China Automobile Dealers Association will be held in Beijing.

On the occasion, such domestic automakers as FAW, Dongfeng, Shanghai Auto, Chery, Geely and BYD are going to show their latest and best auto products and technologies.

"The purpose of building up such a special show platform for the autos with self-owned brands is to make consumers understand China's self-own autos completely and objectively, so as to drive the increasingly innovation and fast and favorable development in China's self-owned branded auto industry." Xu Bingjin, Chairman of China-Europe Association for Economic & Technical Cooperation, illustrates the significance of this exhibition.

Nowadays, along with the development of the autos with self-owned brands, China's independent auto industry has also entered a new stage of vigorous development.

But in such a stage, only increasingly make innovation and improve competitive strength on development and brand construction, can China's autos with self-owned brands obtain more space to develop and can China realize the dream of becoming an auto power.
