Beijing police announced yesterday that they have arrested a gang of 23 who stole over 27 iPhones from subway commuters recently, the Legal Mirror reported.

Police established a special team to crack down on robberies in the subway system in February. It discovered 80 percent of such cases involved iPhone theft. Police said most of the iPhone robberies occur at the security check or at busy transfer stations.

The gang targeted passengers with iPhone earphones. Since February, 332 people have been arrested on suspicion of stealing iPhones on the subway.
