Zhou Yunpeng solo concert @ Mako Livehouse

Renowned blind folk singer Zhou Yunpeng will play his defiant, everyman songs Sunday at Mako Livehouse. Now 42, Zhou first moved to Beijing as a street singer, albeit a college-educated one, and garnered acclaim and record contracts from there. His songwriting often dwells on the theme of China's growth, such as imagining the ring roads gobbling up other cities, then countries, oceans and continents.

The Blue Bones concert by Cui Jian @ MasterCard Center

Taiwan band Tizzy Bac concert @ Mao Livehouse

Founded in 1999, three-piece Taiwanese band Tizzy Bac has earned a reputation as the "Taiwanese Ben Folds Five" for blending rock sensibilities with a unique setup of keyboard, bass and drums. With four full-length albums to their name, Tizzy Bac brings their tried and true indie cred to Mao Livehouse Sunday night.
