Tourists watch a 40-meter-tall wave in the Qiantang River in Haining, East China's Zhejiang Province on Friday. Local residents said they haven't seen waves this high before. The waves were influenced by typhoon Trami, the 12th to hit China this year. The tide in the Qiantang River reaches its highest level during the seventh, eighth and ninth months of the Chinese lunar calendar each year. Watching waves at the Qiantang River has been a Chinese tradition for hundreds of years. Every year, thousands of tourists visit Qiantang River to watch or immerse themselves in the waves. Photo:IC
