Hong Kong detained a man on suspicion of animal cruelty for walking his pet boar on a chain leash November 17.
The owner, referred to only as “Uncle bill” in the report and currently out on bail, explained he would never think of ever abusing his boar and four pet dogs.
Tommy, his 70-kilogram pet boar, is currently under the care of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD).
Hong Kong animal protection groups have pleaded for Tommy’s life, explaining that the boar is trained, obeys commands and poses no danger to citizens. The groups implored the AFCD find Tommy a proper home or free it in the wild.
