On August 22, 2014, Guangzhou Supe Chemical Co., Ltd, the chemical industry leader under Nipsea Group, won the project of waterproof coating the bridge deck in Foshan West Railway Station.

The station is one of the four biggest railway stations within the Guangzhou railway hub, and the construction area of the bridge deck covers nearly 200,000 square meters. Supe Chemical won the bid with its patented MMA (Methyl Methylmethacrylate) coating, a chemical compound product of breakthrough technology and outstanding quality.

As one of the earliest domestic manufacturers of the MMA product, Supe Chemical becomes the industry pioneer by being the first to introduce MMA resin coating technology to China. The company has since developed a series of MMA products independently.

Until now, the MMA series produced by Supe Chemical have been applied on the Shanghai-Nanjing Intercity High-speed Railway project, the 2010 Shanghai World Expo's Singapore Pavilion, and other key national construction projects.

As a kind of reactive liquid resin, MMA coating not only possesses characters such as water resistance, low temperature resistance, abrasion resistance and aging resistance, but can also resist effectively against the corrosion of chloride ion.
It also has high adhesive strength and thus can be easily applied in various construction projects.

These advantages can provide solid protection for base materials while following environmental protection standards.

MMA products have already been widely used in foreign countries. They are indispensable in protecting road, concrete bridge deck, pipeline and industrial flooring. For instance, the products have been used in the construction of the Manhattan Bridge in New York, the US, and the Bosporus Bridge in Istanbul, Turkey.

Now such products have become more common in the construction of China's high-speed railway bridges, highway steel girders and many other construction projects.

Nipsea Group, the parent company of Nippon Paint China, purchased the equity of Supe Chemical through an open auction in 2013. Then Nipsea Group began to use Supe Chemical's industrial terrace coating channel and innovative MMA technology to participate in terrace coating production and key national construction projects.

Now with the contract to coat the bridge deck in Foshan West Railway Station, the value of MMA coating is becoming more recognized within China.
