India-China Yoga festival to be held in Chengdu

The First India-China International Yoga Festival is set to be held in Dujiangyan, Chengdu, in Southwest China's Sichuan Province from June 17 to 21, according to a news conference held at the Embassy of India in Beijing on Monday.

Organized by the Consulate General of India in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province the event will commemorate the first International Yoga Day on June 21.

Nineteen Yoga masters from six Yoga schools in India will attend the four-day event, which includes training and seminars. A total of 20,000 Chinese Yoga practitioners are expected to join.

Yoga-Ta Chi Dialogue, Panda Yoga Flash and Indian Cuisine Culture Week will also be held during the event, which aims to entice more people into practicing Yoga as well as enhance the relationship between India and China, organizers said.

Besides Chengdu, 10 Chinese cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Shenzhen are planning various activities for International Yoga Day, which was declared on December 11, 2014 by the UN.
