Singapore Fiesta 2015 was held on the Bund Saturday and Sunday, with about 20,000 locals and expats participating in the annual event.
Representatives from the Singapore Consulate General in Shanghai and the Shanghai Singapore Business Association (SSBA) delivered brief speeches to mark the beginning of the festival.
A multitude of Singaporean products ranging from automobile tires to instant noodles to real estate projects to beers were presented to visitors. The event's organizer told the
Global Times that the two-day retail sales volume reached 400,000 yuan ($62,850).
One Shanghainese woman, carrying a bag of Singaporean-made biscuits, told the
Global Times that she was happy to shop where so many Singaporean products were being offered at a reasonable price.
Several businessmen visiting from Singapore to advertise their products at the festival told the
Global Times that in addition to their brick-and-mortar shops they also now sell products on Chinese e-platforms such as T-mall, which is run by Alibaba.
