Debate has built up on social media over numerous buildings on Chinese university campuses that incorporate Western architectural elements with varying degrees of success. While some said the buildings add an air of academia and high society to the campuses, others argued them to be nothing more than knock-offs that breed a culture of copycatting and fail to encourage innovation among students.
