A woman in East China's Anhui Province who went missing after a walk in a recent shroud of heavy smog was found by police wandering in the woods.

The woman surnamed Hu had been taking a shortcut through a local forest to visit a nearby relative on the morning of December 7 when she became disoriented in the heavy smog, according to news portal dahe.cn.

Her husband reported her missing that evening after learning Hu never arrived, prompting a two-hour search by Ma'anshan police.  

Officers found a fatigued Hu stranded in the woods. Hu was not carrying a mobile phone when she left her house, read the report.

According to data from the National Meteorological Center, visibility in Anhui Province dropped below 200 meters on December 7.
