Public art has always played an important part of artist Zhu Legeng's career. His new exhibition at the National Museum of China is no exception. The exhibition, open to the public since Tuesday, features a number of his ceramic artworks themed on nature.
The Deconstruction and Rebirth of Life exhibition includes two of the artist's major works:
The Blossoming of Life, a work made for a South Korean hotel and
Nirvana, which occupies the central gallery and covers the four walls of the hall.
"Life is my favorite topic. It is the most mysterious and exciting thing in the world. Because of life, the whole world is full of vigor," the artist said at the opening of the exhibition.
The Blossoming of Life focuses on growth, portraying leaves, flowers, moss, mushrooms, rivers and stones in ceramic. The second set covers an entire hall in Buddhist art.
"I like my works to cover an entire space. People walk around it and it surrounds us making it one piece. It touches people's hearts. Artworks can be considered complete only when they are appreciated and commented on," he added.
The exhibition will run until February 1st.
