On May 12, 2008, a magnitude 8.0 earthquake devastated Wenchuan, in Sichuan Province, irrevocably changing the lives of all it touched.

Throughout China, events were organized to mark the 8th anniversary of the quake, with citizens paying their respects at the Wenchuan memorial, students practicing how to protect themselves in case of future earthquakes, and officials learning of the good work being done to take care of Wenchuan's resident panda population.
