China has over 10 million adults and 2 million children living with autism, with their numbers increasing 200,000 annually, according to Chinese Autism Rehabilitation Education Industry Development Report II released in 2016. Photo: Li Hao/GT
While China has increased support to children with autism, adults receive less support. According to a survey by China Disabled Persons Federation (CDPF), there are 1,345 registered autism rehabilitation institutions in China, only a few of which provide help to adults, such as job training.
