Editor's Note:
The Chinese army began their latest round of mine sweeping along their border with Vietnam on November 2.
More than 400 soldiers from the PLA Chengdu Military Area Command took part in the mission in Southwest China’s Yunnan Province to remove the explosives left during the 1979 China-Vietnam War.
Conducted in the Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, this is the PLA’s third demining mission along the border. Previous sweeps were conducted between 1992-1994 and 1997-1999.
