A branch of Beijing Silian Hairdressing opened two hours ahead of its normal business timings, as demands for haircuts mounted on the Dragon Head-Raising Day on Monday. Many residents queued up since 6:00 am in a bid to secure an appointment. The traditional Dragon Head-Raising Day, or Er Yue Er, is celebrated on the second day of the second lunar month, which falls on February 24 this year. People usually get a haircut on this day, as it is believed to usher in good luck for the upcoming year. Amid the COVID19 outbreak, only two customers are allowed at a time in the store to ensure a safe distance among them, and protect the hairdressers against any risks of infection. Photos: Li Hao/GT
