Beijing’s residents visit the Lama Temple to pray on Wednesday. Some of the city’s religious venues reopened after the COVID-19 situation improved in China, such as the iconic Lama Temple of Tibetan Buddhism and the Baiyun Monastery of Taoism. During the first reopening phase, the Lama temple will limit the number of daily visitors to 7,500; however, one employee at the Lama Temple told the Global Times they only had some 1,000 visitors on Wednesday. The employees would continue to disinfect the site three times a day.
Previously, Beijing had suspended the opening of 155 religious venues due to the COVID-19 epidemic, according to the Beijing United Front Work Department. Photos: Li Hao/GT
