Police officers, rescue workers and construction personnel are working hard to clear the debris and confirm if there are more people buried. When the Global Times reporter arrived on Monday afternoon, an ambulance had entered the site. The garden of a house near the collapsed building during the explosion was carpeted with iron plates. Local officials working at the site are registering some residents living nearby who need to go back home to take some articles of daily use. The Shiyan government is still investigating the reasons of the accident and had not released any information on any possible cause. A local resident surnamed Li who used to shop at the market told the Global Times that the accident happened while a maintenance worker was fixing the pipeline following a gas leak.
