Shanghai’s railway stations saw its passenger peak on January 20, 2023 before the 7-day Spring Festival holidays. More than 450,000 passengers are expected to travel via these stations during the day. The Global Times visited the Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and saw familiar scenes harking back to pre-pandemic Spring Festival travel rushes, with passengers filling up the station, as they waited to step on trains bound for home.
